1. The multimeter must be capable of measuring DC voltage in the 40 to 60 volt range.
2. Required when installing ED8C906-30 OC3/OC12 Bay.
3. Available from Sanchem Inc., Chicago, IL. Required if the bay has been scraped to make the ground con-
nection.
4. The crimping tool and wire stripper are required if installing rear access DS3 cables, ED-8C727-20, Group
100, 103, 106, 109, 110, 120, 123, 126, 130, 133, or 136 or front access DS3 cables, ED-8C724-20,
Group 323, 325, 327, 328, 330, 332, or 333. TheseDS3 cable groups have one end terminated with a con-
nector and the other end shipped loose.
NOTE:
ED-8C727-20, Group 100, 103, 106, 109, 110, 120, 123, 126, 130, 133, or 136
and ED-8C724-20, Group 323, 325, 327, 328, 330, 332, or 333 are manufacture
discontinued (MD) and replaced by ED8C900-20 cables which are connectorized
at each end.
5. Refer to the various tables of the “Local Equipment Test” portion of Section 8 in this manual, for the pre-
ferred lightguide buildout assembly (
ST
®
, SC or FC/PC) and it’s associated optical fiber jumper for each
Universal type OLIU.
6. An optical power meter is required during end-to-end installation testing to determine what value of build-
out assembly will be placed on the transmit fiber. The
ST
to biconic fiber jumper is required for connection
between the
ST
buildout assembly and the optical power meter.
7. An
MS-DOS
compatible personal computer and EIA-232 cable are required for software downloading.
