OC-3/OC-12 Bay Intershelf Parallel Telemetry Cabling

(1) For a DDM-2000 OC-3/OC-12 combined bay application where the DDM-2000

OC-3 shelf (or shelves) parallel telemetry is to be multed to the DDM-2000
OC-12 shelf, obtain an ED-8C724-20, Group 386 parallel telemetry cable listed
in Table 2-5 on page 2-38 and connect it to J22 of the DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf.

(2) Route the parallel telemetry cable to the side of the bay and connect to P54 of

the DDM-2000 OC-3 shelf directly above the DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf, as shown
in Figure 2-14 on page 2-61.

NOTE:

Multing between additional DDM-2000 OC-3 shelves in the bay is covered in
363-206-204,

(3) Dress and tie the cables as close to the backplane as possible without touching

any backplane pins.

TBOS Telemetry Cabling - Rear Access

NOTE:

TBOS is not available in OC-12, Release 7.

Description

Telemetry byte-oriented serial (TBOS) is a serial telemetry interface providing system
alarm and status data to a maintenance center and remote equipment switch (RS)
capability from a maintenance center.

A cable connection from the telemetry equipment provides up to eight displays and can
accommodate up to eight DDM-2000 OC-12 shelves (a shelf is assigned a display). A
central office shelf and its associated remote terminal shelf (or shelves) will typically be
assigned displays associated with this single interface connection. Additionally, other
DDM-2000 OC-12 shelves in the bay may be assigned remaining displays associated
with the single interface connection. This is accomplished using intershelf mult cabling.

Connection of TBOS telemetry requires a TBOS telemetry system in the office, and
thus TBOS telemetry is normally only used in a central office environment.

As mentioned in the above description, a TBOS cable is required to be routed
from the TBOS telemetry system to the DDM-2000 OC-12 bay to accommodate
the maximum of three shelves in a bay.

The TBOS intershelf mult cable also provides intershelf mults for the craft inter-
face terminal (CIT) and modem (when provided). Installation of this mult cable is
covered in the “Mult Cable Installation Procedure”.
