Description
Miscellaneous discrete telemetry is the method to provide miscellaneous closures at
the remote terminal for transmission to the central office and interpretation at an
operations system (OS) maintenance center.
The DDM-2000 OC-12 allows up to 14 (Releases prior to 5) or 20 (Releases 5 and 7)
miscellaneous user-settable alarm status indications (SI) at the remote terminal for
transmission toward the central office and four remote equipment switch (RS) inputs at
the central office (CO) for transmission toward the remote terminal (RT).
Refer to Figure 3-15 on page 3-60 (Releases prior to 5) for a description of the external
interconnection requirements for utilizing the miscellaneous discrete telemetry feature
at a remote terminal or Figure 3-16 on page 3-61 (Releases prior to 5) at a central
office. for Releases 5 and 7, refer to Figure 3-17 on page 3-62.
There is no multing of miscellaneous discrete telemetry cables.
This procedure should be performed for each shelf requiring miscellaneous dis-
crete telemetry.
Miscellaneous discrete telemetry connections are listed in Table 3-12 on page 3-
42 for Remote Terminal and Table 3-13 on page 3-43 for Central Office applica-
tions.
Procedure
(1) Obtain a Group 178 or 179 miscellaneous discrete telemetry cable.
(2) Connect the cable to connector J267 of the Group 230 front access cable for a
central office (CO), or to connector J268 of the Group 231 front access cable for
a remote terminal (RT).
(3) for remote terminal applications requiring more than 14 user definable environ-
mental inputs (Releases 5 and 7), connect a second Group 178 or 179 cable to
J267 (in addition to the Group 178 or 179 cable connected to J268).
(4) Route the cable out of the DDM-2000 OC-12 bay to a wire-wrap panel (or where
connections can be made), stacking the cables as shown in Figure 3-2 on page
3-47.
(5) Cut the miscellaneous discrete telemetry cable to the desired length at the
telemetry panel.
