Modem Cabling - Front Access
Description
The use of a modem will allow the DDM-2000 OC-12 Multiplexer to be accessed
remotely.
NOTE:
Connection to the modem port does not require the use of a null modem.
Modem Cabling - Shelf 1
NOTE:
The modem cable installation procedure for shelf 1 for front access and rear
access is performed in the same manner, with the exception that the Group 189,
190, or 173 (D.A.) modem interface cable P260 connects to J260 of the Group
216 front access cable instead of the backplane. Refer to Modem Cable Installa-
tion - Rear Access” in the “Equipment and Rear Access Cable Installation” sec-
tion.
(1) Route the cables out of the bay, stacking cables as shown in Figure 3-2 on page
3-47.
(2) Connect the other end of the modem cable to a modem or distribution frame
(DS) as specified in the order.
Modem Cabling - Other Shelves
NOTE:
TBOS is not available in OC-12, Release 7.
NOTE:
Perform this procedure only if it is desired to mult modem and CIT without mult-
ing TBOS between shelves.
NOTE:
If TBOS is to be multed as well as modem and CIT, this has been done in the
“Procedure for Other Shelves” portion of the "TBOS Telemetry Cable Installation
- Front Access" procedure.
