Loopback OC-12 Shelf

(1) If the DDM-2000 OC-12 is a remote terminal (RT), change the timing mode on

the BBF2B/BBF2C/BBF4 TGS circuit packs from “line timed” to “free running”
(refer to Chapter 3). When the timing mode is changed, press the UPD/INIT
push-button on the SYSCTL after the change is complete.

(2) Remove each 23G-U OLIU circuit pack from the shelf and replace the 0 dB

lightguide buildout (LBO) assembly of the OUT (transmit) connector on each
23G-U OLIU with a 15 dB buildout assembly per the following table and Figure
6-2 on page 6-34.

CAUTION:

Do not install optical loopback cables without 15 dB lightguide buildouts as
this will cause damage to the receivers.
