Miscellaneous Discrete Telemetry Cabling -
Rear Access
Description
The miscellaneous discrete telemetry access allows the maintenance center to control
and monitor equipment located with the DDM-2000 OC-12 shelf(s).
The miscellaneous discrete control feature enables the maintenance center to remotely
initiate up to four contact closures at the remote terminal for equipment operation such
as pumps, generators, etc.
The miscellaneous discrete alarm status indications allow up to 14 (Releases prior to 5)
or 20 (Release 5) miscellaneous user-set alarm status indications (SI) at the remote
terminal for transmission toward the central office. A fifteenth external discrete
dedicated for an external power minor alarm monitoring is also optionally accessible.
Refer to Figure 2-18 on page 2-65 (Releases prior to 5) for a description of the external
interconnection requirements for utilizing the miscellaneous discrete telemetry feature
at a remote terminal or Figure 2-19 on page 2-66 (Releases prior to 5) at a central
office. For Release 5, refer to Figure 2-20 on page 2-67.
There is no multing between shelves of miscellaneous discrete telemetry cables.
This procedure should be performed for each shelf requiring miscellaneous dis-
crete telemetry.
Miscellaneous discrete telemetry cable options are listed in Table 2-4 on page 2-
37.
Miscellaneous discrete telemetry connections are listed in Table 2-12 on page 2-
44 for Remote Terminal and Table 2-13 on page 2-45 for Central Office applica-
tions.
Procedure
(1) Obtain a Group 178, 194 or 179 (D.A.) miscellaneous discrete telemetry cable
listed in Table 2-4 on page 2-37.
NOTE:
The cable is connected to the shelf requiring miscellaneous discrete telemetry.
(2) Connect the cable to connector P67 at a central office (CO), or to connector P68
at a remote terminal (RT).
(3) For remote terminal applications requiring more than 14 user definable environ-
mental inputs (Release 5 only), connect a second Group 178 or 179 cable to
P67 (in addition to the Group 178, 194 or 179 (D.A.) cable on P68).
