IMPORTANT:
This section is intended solely as an overview of the application. For
comprehensive information about the use of the application, see the
documentation for the product.
System Programming and Maintenance (SPM) software lets you program and
maintain the system. It performs the same functions as an MLX-20L telephone set
up as a system programming console, providing a display that emulates the
console display. SPM also has other features, such as the abilities to back up and
restore system programming and to print reports.
Two versions of SPM are available:
■
SPM. This standalone version runs on a Lucent Technologies-approved
DOS PC. Version 4.25, for Release 4.1 and later systems, runs as a DOS
application under Windows 95.
■
SPM Integrated with IS II or III (SPM IS II or III). This version runs under
the UNIX system. For more information, see
and
‘‘Integrated Solution III’’ on page I-45
You can connect a PC with DOS-based SPM directly to the control unit or you can
access the system remotely in one of the following ways:
■
The system programmer dials the system directly. You can set up a
password to prevent unauthorized access.
■
The system programmer dials the system operator and asks to be
transferred to the system’s built-in modem (dial code
*10
).
You can use SPM IS III only through a direct local connection.
