DS3/EC1 Testing Procedure
Perform the following steps for all Metropolis
®
DMXtend shelf
Function Unit slots containing 12DS3/EC1 (LNW16) circuit packs and
cabled to a DSX-3 via DS3/EC1 cabling, or the A/B slot containing
LNW39 (DS1/DS3/16/3) and the DS3 portion of the hybrid cable
cabled to a DSX-3.
If the Metropolis
®
DMXtend is cabled to some other type of DS3/EC1
terminating equipment, use this procedure by substituting these ports
for the DSX-3 ports called out in the procedure.
If the Metropolis
®
DMXtend shelf is not fully populated, it may be
necessary to move the circuit pack(s) from slot to slot in order to test all
DS3/EC1 cabling.
This procedure requires the use of a DS3 test set.
Important!
The LNW16 circuit packs are provisioned on a "per
port" basis for DS3 or EC1. Provisioning of the ports for EC1 will
be supported in Release R1.1 and later. The default setting for all
ports is DS3. Tests in the section will verify proper cabling by using
a DS3 test set with all ports provisioned as DS3.
The LNW39 (DS1/DS3/16/3) pack’s DS3 portion is only
provisionable for DS3.
