Follow this procedure only if installing LNW71 (10/100-PL), or 
LNW66 (10/100T) (Supported starting in release R1.1) circuit packs 
into the Metropolis

® 

DMXtend shelf.

Step 1

Refer to the engineering job specification. Identify the proper function 
group slot (D1 or G1) where the LNW71 (10/100-PL), or LNW66 (10/
100T) circuit pack will be installed.

Important!

The LNW71 (10/100-PL), or LNW66 (10/100T)

(R1.1) circuit pack can only be installed in slot 1 of any function 
group.

Step 2

Remove the LNW71 (10/100-PL), or LNW66 (10/100T)(R1.1) from 
the packing material.

Step 3

Place the circuit pack into the shelf (slot D1 or G1 as required). Do 
NOT engage the circuit pack in the backplane connector.

Step 4

Install a 177D or LNW98 Apparatus Blank into the companion circuit 
pack slot (D2 or G2 as required).

Important!

177D or LNW98 Apparatus Blanks are required in all 

unused slots D and G to provide proper air flow for cooling.

Step 5

Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 for each additional function group (slot 
D1 or G1 as required) slot 1’s to be equipped with LNW71 (10/100-
PL), or LNW66 (10/100T)(R1.1) circuit packs.
