Loopback Configuration Options
To aid network troubleshooting and testing, loopback capability is provided
for the 6-Port DS1 IMA module. The loopback option on the module’s port
and channel configuration window for the module enables you to verify the
integrity of a port by transmitting a received signal back to the source.
Selecting a loopback option is described in the module configuration
procedure provided in this chapter.
If configuring a pair of 6-Port DS1 IMA module in the primary and standby
setup, the desired loopback option must be configured by the user on both
the primary and standby modules prior to bringing the pair into service. This
parameter is applied on a port-by-port basis on both the primary and standby
modules. If the line loop or local loop configuration is transferred from port A
on the primary module to port B on the standby module, the port parameter
does not transfer; it must be pre-configured on the standby by the user.
Figure 3-1 illustrates the line loop, payload loop, and local loop options.
The following I/O modules have loopback capability:
•
6-Port Enhanced DS1/T1 Multiservice module
•
6-Port DS1 IMA module
•
12-Port Medium-Density DS1 Multiservice module
