Chapter 8 Provisioning Connections Using the AQueView

Provisioning PVC Connections
If the parameters are valid, the Connections window appears with the
new connection in the
Listing
page, and the Display Connection
window appears with tabs that contain details about the connection (see
Figure 8-36):
Primary, Statistics,
Backup,
and
Utilization
.
If a parameter is invalid, a
Connection Creation Failed
message appears,
stating the reason for the failure.
Primary Page
The
Primary
tab displays the information used to create the connection. See
Table 8-9 for field descriptions.
Sustained Cell
Rate (cps)
1 (default)
Sustainable cell rate (SCR) with CLP=0 (high priority) cells or
the peak cell rate with CLP=0 cells.
When setting this value, take into account the line rate for
the module and the amount of bandwidth you are setting up
for each interface for the module. Refer to the ATM UNI 3.1
specifications for more information.
If you select the value
SimplexA2B
in the
Flow
field, set the
value of this field to
0
. The value in this field should be less
than the Peak Cell Rate field.
Max Burst Size
(cells)
1 (default)
Maximum burst size. The maximum number of cells that can
be received at one time. This value allows a burst of cells to
arrive at a rate higher than that of the SCR. If the burst is
larger than the traffic contract allows, the additional cells are
either tagged or dropped.
When setting this value, take into account the line rate for
the module and the amount of bandwidth you are setting up
for each interface for that module.
Connection
Status
(display only)
Inactive,
Active
This field displays the current status of the connection. The
value indicates whether the connection is passing traffic.
OAM Status
End-Pt
(default)
The PSAX system is used as a termination point for ATM traf-
fic, and will process AIS/RDI cells.
End-Seg-Pt
Has the characteristics of both an end point and a segment
point.
Unsupp
OAM is not in use.
