A
Automated Attendant Service
A system feature that consists of a greeting and a
multi-level menu, which provides outside callers with
options enabling them to reach an extension, Hunt
Group or Calling Group, or obtain information, by
pressing a single digit or by dialing an extension, Hunt
Group or Calling Group number.
Auto Dial button
A programmable telephone button that dials digits
simply by pressing that button. An Auto Dial button can
be used to dial the PARTNER MAIL system with one
touch. See also Programmable button.
Auxiliary equipment
Telecommunications equipment (other than MLS- and
MLC-model telephones) that can be connected to the
control unit. Auxiliary equipment includes industry-
standard devices that can connect directly to the public
telephone network (such as standard phones or fax
machines) as well as devices that require the interface
provided by the control unit (such as a loudspeaker
paging system).
Automatic VMS Cover
This feature gives PARTNER MAIL extensions Call
Answer Service coverage for calls not answered within
three rings.

Call Answer service
A PARTNER MAIL feature that lets callers leave a
message at an unanswered extension or transfer
themselves to another extension.
Calling Group
A group of extensions that can be called simultaneously
by dialing a calling group code. See also Hunt group.
Centralized Telephone Programming
A method of telephone programming that lets you
program individual extensions in the system from
an MLS-34D, MLS-18D, or MLS-12D phone at
extension 10 or extension 11. Centralized Telephone
Programming is an alternative to Extension
Programming.
CO Line number
The number assigned to each line jack on 206 or 400
module. Line jack numbers run consecutively from 01
through 24 (for a two-carrier configuration).
Control Unit
The control unit consists of at least the primary
carrier and can be expanded to include the expansion
carrier. The control unit connects lines coming into
your building to the extensions on your system and also
provides system features.
