P

Password

(1) In PARTNER MAIL, 1-4 digit number that
subscribers enter to log into PARTNER MAIL. A
password is used to keep messages confidential. (2)
A 4-digit word assigned by the system manager that
users can enter form MLS-modeI system phones to
override dialing restrictions and to turn Night Service on
and off.  See also Night Service.

Programmable button

A telephone button that does not have a line assigned;
it can be set up to dial a number or access a feature.
On MLS- and MLC-model phones, programmable
buttons can be used as Auto Dial buttons (for one-
touch dialing of feature codes).

Programming extension

An extension from which you can program the

PARTNER II System, either extension 10 or 11.

Standard phone

An industry-standard touch-tone or rotary phone such
as you might have in your home. Some standard

phones include special feature buttons for frequently-
used calling functions.  See also Industry-standard
device.

Subscriber

A user who is assigned a mailbox.

System

The AT&T control unit and MLS- and MLC-model
telephones that you purchased, plus all other
telecommunications devices that are connected to your
control unit.

System Administrator

A person in charge of making ongoing changes to the

PARTNER MAIL system such as modifying mailboxes,
changing menus and greetings.

System Manager

The person responsible for managing the PARTNER II
System, including equipment programming.

System Operator

The person who is primarily responsible for answering
outside calls. This is most often the receptionist .

System Planner

The person who uses planning forms to plan the

integration of the PARTNER MAIL Voice Massaging
system with PARTNER II Release 3 Communications
System.

System programming

Procedures that allow you to customize PARTNER II
system settings for your business. System
Programming requires an MLS-34D, MLS-18D, or MLS-

12D phone and must be done form extension 10 or 11.

Telephone programming

Customizes extensions to meet the needs of individual
users, including the assignment of features to
programmable buttons. Telephone Programming can
be done either centrally or from the user’s own
extension.

206 module

A system module that contains jacks for connecting up
to two outside lines and up to six extensions to the
control unit.

Voice Mailbox

Provides storage for messages recorded by callers.

Voice Mailbox transfer

A PARTNER II feature that enables a system phone
user to transfer a call directly to a subscriber’s Call
Answer Service.
