Accept Distant Terminal Equipment
DO ITEMS BELOW IN ORDER LISTED
FOR DETAILS, GO TO
1.
Get support apparatus listed:
• Special key (allen-type wrench) - COMCODE 840841324
• Digital multimeter (DMM) with an accuracy of 1.0% and an
AC/DC input impedance of
≥
1 megohm.
2.
NOTE:
There are three codes of distant terminals (DT) available.
The 900A1 is AC powered and has insulation displacement
(push on) connector for the drop pairs. The 900A1 DT can
be individually mounted on the customer's residence or can
be clustered together and share a common AC power
source. The 900A2 and 900A3 DTs are DC powered and
typically collocated two or three to a pedestal. The 900A2
has binding post connectors for the drop pairs while the
900A3 DTs have insulation displacement connector. DC
power supply for these DTs come from up to eight 48-volt
DC power supplies at various customer premises.
For AC powered DT (900A1), continue with Step 3, otherwise for
DC powered DT (900A2 or 900A3) proceed to Step 7.
3.
If a common AC power arrangement is used, perform overall
visual inspection of AC circuit breaker box and outlets, cluster
enclosure (if applicable), drop wire protector panel, and 900A1
(distant terminal) closure for physical damage and proper mount-
ing.
4.
For single DT site, perform overall visual inspection of network
interface unit (NIU), AC outlet, and 900A1 DT closure for physical
damage and proper mounting.
