Convert Series 5 RT to Any Feature Package
Capability Generic Procedures
DO ITEMS BELOW IN ORDER LISTED
FOR DETAILS, GO TO
Summary: This procedure interrupts service for the system. The basic philosophy is
to remove all common units and turn up the system with the common units required
for the new system configuration. The turn up procedures are found in the RT Turn
Up TAB section in NTP-003. When doing this procedure, note that some units may
already be installed (PCUs, FCU, fuse units); and once this procedure is completed
the ADU should be optioned for In-Service when the central office end is ready. To
avoid end-to-end incompatibility trouble, both ends of the system must be converted
at the same time.
NOTE:
The older version RT channel bank assemblies (for example
J1C182AB) do not support all feature packages. Refer to NTP-002
to verify that the RT channel bank assembly you have can be
converted to the new feature package configuration.

CAUTION:
An electrostatic discharge wrist strap with a minimum
resistance of 250K Ohms should be worn when handling
Series 5 circuit packs to prevent possible damage to the
circuit packs. Before using the wrist strap, check it for
opens, shorts, and minimum resistance value. If the strap
does not pass these checks it should not be used. To avoid
possible personal injury while using the wrist strap, do not
connect it to the power shelf or adjacent portions of the RT
frame. Connect the wrist strap to ESD GRD jack on the fan
unit, if present. If grounding jack is not present, connect
wrist strap to bare-metal section of the frame well away from
the power shelf.
