Station Name

Use this field to enter a unique descriptive name for the device,
such as the user’s name or the location of the device within the
building.
This name will be used to identify your WaveLAN/EC-S device
when running the standard WaveLAN diagnostic tools.
Valid values are any string of alphanumeric characters in the range
of “a-z” A-Z” and “0-9” with a maximum of 32 characters. Default
value is “Ethernet Converter”.
Network Type

Use the “Connect To” field to identify the type of network to which
you would like to connect your WaveLAN/EC-S device.
■
Select Infrastructure to connect it to a network infrastructure
that includes WavePOINT-II access points (see “Infrastructure
Network” on page 1-7).
■
Select “Ad-hoc Demo” to connect it to an independent wireless
workgroup that does not include WavePOINT-II access points
(“Independent Network” on page 1-9).

When you select to connect your WaveLAN/EC-S device to an
infrastructure network, you will also need to identify the name of
the WaveLAN IEEE Infrastructure:
■
Use the default value “ANY” (all upper-case!) to allow your
WaveLAN/EC-S device to connect to the first WavePOINT-II
device that it can find in its vicinity.
■
Use a unique WaveLAN Network Name value when you would
like to connect your device to one specific WaveLAN Network
only.
