MAC Address
3
In networking environments a MAC Address value is a standard
designator that is used to identify the different devices connected
to the network. By default, each networking device has a factory-
loaded (Universal) MAC Address that can not be changed.
When connecting the WaveLAN/EC-S device to the Ethernet port
of a computer terminal, the combination of the devices actually has
two MAC Addresses:
■
The Universal MAC Address of the Ethernet interface on your
computer.
■
The Universal MAC Address of the WaveLAN IEEE PC Card
inserted into the WaveLAN/EC-S device.
This MAC Address value is printed on the label on the back of
your WaveLAN card.
To avoid confusion in network communications, you can configure
the WaveLAN/EC-S device to “adopt” one of the two MAC Address
values.
