Open the Telnet Session

1.
Connect the Ethernet 10Base-T cable and power cord to the
WaveLAN/EC-S device.
2.
Connect the opposite end of the Ethernet cable to:
■
Your computer when following the scenario as described
in “Access via Direct Telnet Connection” on page 4-4, or
■
The remote computing device if you are following the
scenario as described in “Access via Remote Telnet
Connection” on page 4-5.
3.
Power-up your computer and the WaveLAN/EC-S device.
4.
Start the Telnet program, and connect to the WaveLAN/EC-S
device of your choice. For most Telnet applications, the
procedure is summarized as follows:
a.
From the Menu bar, select “Connect, Remote System”
b.
Enter the IP Address of the WaveLAN/EC-S device:
■
For new “out-of-the-box” WaveLAN/EC-S devices, or
devices that have been reset to the factory-set
defaults, this value should read 10.10.10.128.
■
For previously configured units, enter the current
IP Address value.
c.
Next enter the port type:
■
For standard Telnet applications, select port-type
“Telnet”.
■
For other applications use Port 23 (which is the default
for all “telnet” programs).
d.
When prompted to enter a Term type, select vt100.
e.
Click “Connect” to establish the connection.
When the Telnet application successfully connects to the
WaveLAN/EC-S device, the device will launch its built-in
configuration tool, and display the Main Menu pictured in Figure
4-2 on page 4-10.
