The Built-in Configurator
Access via a Telnet Session
WaveLAN/EC-S User’s Guide
4-7
■
If this menu appears correctly in your Telnet window, turn to
“Running the Built-in Configurator” on page 4-10 for more
information.
■
If the menu does not appear, but is prompting to enter a
password, the connection to the WaveLAN/EC-S device was
established successfully. However the device has been
password protected upon a previous configuration setting.
To access the Main Menu of the built-in configuration tool, you
will need to enter the correct password (default= “public”).
■
When the Telnet application returns a “Connect Failed” error,
please verify if:
— You entered the correct IP Address.
— All criteria described on the previous pages were met to
establish this connection.
— Optionally you can use the “ping” command, to verify
whether the selected IP Address is accessible.
For example in MS-DOS environments, the “ping”
command looks as follows:
c:\ping 10.10.10.128
where the value 10.10.10.128 must be replaced by the
actual IP Address value of the target device.
If you do not succeed establishing the Telnet connection, or if you
have forgotten the password, you can reset the device to its
factory-set defaults, as described in Appendix B ”Troubleshooting”,
and try again, following the procedures as described for “out-of-
the-box” devices under “Access via Direct Telnet Connection” on
page 4-4.
