Station Name

Use this field to enter a unique descriptive name for the device,
such as the user’s name or the location of the device within the
building.
This name will be used to identify your WaveLAN/EC-S device
when running the standard WaveLAN diagnostic tools.
Valid values are any string of alphanumeric characters in the range
of “a-z”, “A-Z” and “0-9” with a maximum of 32 characters. Default
value is “Ethernet Converter”.
Network Operation

Use the “Network Operation” field to identify the type of network to
which you would like to connect your WaveLAN/EC-S device.

To connect your device to an network infrastructure that
includes WavePOINT-II access points set this value to “ess”.

To connect your device to an independent wireless workgroup
(i.e. an ad-hoc workgroup that does not include WavePOINT-II
access points), set this value to “ibss”.

The value must be entered in lower-case characters.
Once you have finished setting the Basic WaveLAN parameters,
press the keys

on your keyboard to confirm your changes,
and return to the Edit Menu.
Next, select one of the other menus that you would like view or
modify, or return to the Main Menu and proceed as described in “”
on page 4-48.
