IP Parameters

When you wish to use a remote computing system to view/modify
the configuration of WaveLAN/EC-S devices in your network, you
can assign a unique IP Address to each WaveLAN/EC-S device.
Doing so will enable you to use Telnet or a similar program on the
remote (LAN Administrator) station to start the “Built-in
Configurator”, even if the WaveLAN/EC-S device would be located
beyond a Router or Gateway.

NOTE:
The IP Address for the WaveLAN/EC-S device mentioned
above is a separate IP Address, that is used only to allow
remote management of the WaveLAN/EC-S device only.
For networking systems where (wireless) clients need to
use the TCP/IP protocol and a unique IP Address value,
this (second) IP Address for the computer terminal should
be set in the “Network Properties” for the Ethernet
interface of your computing device.
To assign an IP Address to your WaveLAN/EC-S device:
1.
Open the WaveLAN Parameters window as described earlier
in this chapter.
2.
In the section
[ip]
change the default value
10.10.10.128
to a
unique IP Address value from the range assigned to your
organization.
3.
In the field “
netmask
” enter the IP subnet mask for the LAN
segment to which you will connect the WaveLAN/EC device.
The subnet mask value you select should be the same for all
WaveLAN and WavePOINT-II devices in your network.

This requires that the “remote management” station has the TCP/IP
protocol installed.
