Pump:
Super Rain II
For reliable performance and safety we use a 12V diaphragm pump which reaches per-
formance values of up to 2.7 L/min and max. 4.8 bar. To reach a very constant pressure
irrespective of the number of connected nozzles, the pump has an overflow valve that
opens at about 3.8 bar. This continuous pressure adjustment provides double safety.
Especially when only a few nozzles are connected, the continuous pressure adjustment
reduces the risk that tubes loosen themselves from the connectors or that nozzles are
overloaded. Please note that the flow rate depends on the created pressure and the
number of installed spray nozzles.
Super Rain PRO
The PRO version is constructed the same way as the Super Rain II. This means that
the housing and the pump are the same size as the Super Rain II, but the pump has
a maximum flow rate of 4 l / min at 6.5 bar! Thus, it is designed for professional use.
Spray nozzles:
These special plastic nozzles have a spray angle of 50° and ensure proper misting
of your terrarium. Thanks to the sophisticated construction the spray nozzle can be
pointed into any direction (360°). Nozzles with bulkhead (item # SR-31) are available
for leading the tube outside of the terrarium.
Universal-T-bulkhead
The Universal-T-Bulkhead can fulfil multiple functions and is highly flexible. First of all,
it is a simple T-junction, which can be fixed with a suction cup. In conjunction with an
end cap the Universal T-bulkhead can also be used as a L-connector.
At the same time,
it also serves as a bulkhead leadthrough in the terrarium up to a material thickness
of 21 mm! This means, that it can also be used in plastic or wooden terarriums.
Dripping nozzle:
Our spray nozzles achieve an excellent misting performance. However it will probably
happen that some plants will not get enough water. To avoid this we are supplying a
special dripping valve which can be installed in the plant area to provide water. The flow
rate can be adjusted. Additional dripping valves are available as addon/spare parts.
Hint: a lot of animals like chameleons just drink dripping water. So the dripping nozzle
can also be used as a dripper.
Water filter:
In order to prevent the pump or the nozzles from clogging, we are supplying a special
water filter. This way you can also place the intake tube with the water filter in the wa-
ter part of a paludarium and create a closed water cycle with no need to add external
water. The water filter is simply plugged onto the end of the intake tube. It should be
cleaned and exchanged regularly.
Caution: Loud pump noise or a reduced spray performance can indicate a clogged
filter.
Back pressure valve:
When a membrane pump doesn’t work, it does not interrupt the flow of water. This
means that if the water tank is at a lower position than the pump, the water flows
back into the tank. In case that the water tank is at a higher position than the pump,
there is a risk that the nozzles drip. In the worst case until the water tank is empty. The
back-pressure valve prevents both problems. For security reasons we recommend to
always place the water tank below the nozzles!
Extension:
The mist system can be extended with more than 10 spray nozzles/dripping valves.
The maximum possible extension depends on the combination and flow rate setting
of the dripping valves (high flow rate reduces the pressure and therefore number of
additional nozzles). If you use only spray nozzles, up to 15 nozzles can be used without
a major performance decrease.
Super Rain PRO
The Super Rain PRO should always be used with at least 6 nozzles. Otherwise the pump
has to work constantly against too much back pressure. In practice the pump will work
with up to 25 nozzles.
Installation and use:
Placement:
Place the pump case at a suitable place outside the terrarium with a safe distance
to the water. Pay attention to the maximum pump height of 2,5 m which depends on
the amount of extensions connected to the mist system (more nozzles will decrease
pump height).
Caution: The pump should not be on the same level or below the water tank as there
is a risk of the water tank running empty and/or the water continually dripping from
the nozzle which can flood the terrarium. You should not rely solely on the included
backpressure valve!
Connecting tubes:
Generally:
Unscrew the nut and thread them through the tube. Push the tube into the
opening of the nozzle or the Universal-T-bulkhead. Make sure the tube is inserted pro-
perly. Screw the nut tight. This will squeeze the tube firmly into the receiving opening.
When cutting the tube pay attention that it’s a straight cutting edge. Sluggish tubes can
be smoothed by using some drops of water.
Connect the tube for the nozzles with the pump on the “OUT” opening. Push the tube
about 3 cm into the opening. Than fix the connections by using the locking nut as in-
dicated above. At the terminal end of the intake tube install the water filter. Place
the intake tube with the water filter into the supplied water reservoir or any other
The mist system consists of:
Low voltage pump in special case
12V Transformer
4 Nozzles with T-Connector
1 Dripper
2 End caps
1 Water filter
1 Universal- T-Schott (bulkhead fitting)
5m Tube
5 Suction cups
1 Back-pressure valve
5 l water tank
With the Super Rain II Mist System you have purchased a high performance device for misting your vivarium, green house or plant arrangements.
The possibility of expanding the misting system with several nozzles and drippers makes the device ideal for use on multiple terrariums. For large
vivarium show units, we offer the Super Rain PRO as an even more powerful version.
