Installation, Operation and Maintenance Instructions
Weather-proof louvre, horizontal,
WSG-H3 for flat roof
1 General
Standards
– SIA 271 “Abdichtungen von Hochbauten” (Seals on build-
ing constructions)
– EN 1873+A1:2016 Prefabricated accessories for roofing,
6.5.2 Impact resistance (SIA 232.306+A1 Civil engineering)
Certificates
Lucoma AG has the following certificate and approvals.
Please visit www.lucoma.ch to view the latest documents.
– ISO 9001 Quality Management System
– KTA 1401 and IAEA 50-C-Q (Product manufacture for
nuclear installations)
– Explosion Protection Directive ATEX 2014/34/EU (Non-
electrical equipment for use in potentially explosive at-
mospheres)
Work safety
In matters of work safety, the local standards and regula-
tions must be observed. In particular, fall-through protec-
tion must be provided until the weather-proof louvre is in-
stalled. Do not walk on weather-proof louvres themselves
despite the fact that they have been tested and certified
for fall-through protection.
General requirements for Switzerland
– SUVA Swiss Federal Accident Insurance Fund, 6004
Lucerne, www.suva.ch
– Ordinance on construction work (BauAV)
– EKAS Swiss Federal Coordination Commission for Health
and Safety, 6002 Lucerne, www.ekas.ch
Fall-through protection
Roofs are now more frequently used actively. They are
planted, serve as water retention surfaces or act as loca-
tions for installing solar and building service equipment.
There is a more frequent requirement for roofs to be
accessible, also for foot traffic. This increases the risk of
falling from the roof due to insufficiently secured roof
accesses (skylights, weather-proof louvres, etc.)
If one of the items below applies, roof accesses must have
a shatter-proof design.
1. The building area is freely accessible to third parties.
2. Technical equipment that requires regular maintenance
(e.g. more than once yearly), e.g. vents, solar systems
etc. are located on the roof.
3. The roof is intensively or extensively planted.
4. There are unsecured traffic paths on the building area
with roof access.
5. The building area has roof accesses which are not iden-
tified as such for night work or snow clearing.
Horizontal weather-proof louvres WSG-H3 are guaran-
teed fall-through proof in compliance with EN 1873+A1:2016
(or SIA 232.306+A1). Tested and confirmed by Empa
Dübendorf (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials
Science and Technology) in Test Report 5214019875.
Remark: Horizontal weather-proof louvres from Lucoma
are fall-through proof but not walkable, it is strictly prohib-
ited to walk on horizontal weather-proof louvres. This
would damage the louvres. Lucoma assumes no liability
for walking on weather-proof louvres and recommends
that this be prevented by additional building measures.
Fire protection
Compliance is mandatory with all relevant international,
national and local standards and regulations for fire pro-
tection.
Lightning protection
Weather-proof louvres must be connected to the lightning
protection system in compliance with international, na-
tional and local standards and regulations.
Explosion protection
Weather-proof louvres are only approved if they have the
appropriate design and are properly labelled according
to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU for Zone 1, 21 or 2, 22. Please
also note the remarks under the individual items in these
instructions.
