16. Procedure in case of defects or faults
Luoman Oy uses dense-grained, technically kiln dried whitewood and redwood as raw material. The timber is
natural and wood ready. Only the timber of foundation beams and terrace floorings have wood protection
treatment. In spite of technical drying, wood lives when getting and giving up moisture. This hygroscopicity is
typical to timber. It expands following the moisture and shrinks in dry conditions. This must be taken into account
and the instructions in the building manual must be followed. The building may also need regular adjustments
because of that.
Timber is natural material which has some selfevident and ordinary aspects like knots, groups of knots, splits,
crazing in knots, resinous and twisting. This means that loose knots or knot holes at edges, resin faults, knot and
drying splits and crazing not influencing to the construction are acceptable. Also twisted but usable parts are such.
Plane hits and wane at the back side of roof and floor boards are always acceptable, if the faults are not seen at
the visible side when assembled.
Like told in the chapter one, please check all the parts first. If you do have something to complain, please
immediately contact the place of purchase to make a written claim via the re-seller. If the assembling will be begun
or continued, it means that the customer has accepted the parts. Mark
and defected or
missing parts to the part list of the installing manual. You can find the guarantee number from both sides of the
package and at the door or door frame (silver label). We cannot process a claim without guarantee number.
Explain the default/missing matter exactly in the separate enclosure. Possible photos might quicken the
procedure. Attach a confident clarification about purchase date and place (for example copy of dated purchase
receipt) and add your contact info before giving the claim to the sales personnel.
Note that imperfect claim won't be handled but returned back for fulfilling. The parts complained must be
available for checking made by producer or re-seller. If the claim is entitled, producer takes care of delivery costs
to the re-seller during moderate period. Producer and re-seller reserve rights to decide all the arrangements
concerning the claim. They may also visit the building site, if they think it is necessary. Producer or re-seller is not
responsible to pay any direct or indirect costs or damages due to a defected or missing part. Producer's liability
limits only to the delivery of new parts to the re-seller. If the claim proves later to be groundless, customer is
responsible to compensate all the costs caused.
