User Certificate
The easiest way to get the user certificate is to use a browser on a desktop PC to navigate to the CA (Certificate Authority). To
request the user certificate, open a browser to
http://<CA IP address>/certsrv
Sign into the CA with any valid username and password.
At the Certificate Services Welcome screen, click on the
Request a certificate
link.
At the Request a Certificate screen, click on the
advanced certificate request
link.
At the Advanced Certificate request screen, click on the
Create and submit a request to this CA
link.
For the
Certificate Template
, select
User
on the drop down menu.
Make sure
Mark keys as exportable
is checked. However, do not check "Export keys to file".
Click on
Submit
, then
Yes
. Change the name of the User Certificate if desired, before clicking
Yes
.
Install the certificate on the desktop computer instead of downloading it to the computer.
The User Certificate is ready for export.
Connect Using ActiveSync
Connect the MX8WM USB cable to the desktop computer. If an ActiveSync partnership has already been established with the
desktop computer, select
Explore
and open the System folder on the MX8WM.

Copy the Root CA .cer file from the desktop PC to the MX8WM System folder.
Export the User CA Certificate
Open Internet Explorer on the desktop PC.
Go to
Tools | Internet Options | Content | Certificates
. User CA certificates are in the list under the
Personal
tab.
Highlight the desired User CA certificate and click
Export
. Make sure
Yes, export the private key
radio button is enabled. Then
click
Next
.
Make sure Personal Information Exchange -
PKCS #122 (.PFX)
is selected. Click
Next
.
Create a password on the following screen and click
Next
.
Select the directory on the desktop PC in which to save the certificate, click
Next
, click
Finish
.
Using ActiveSync, copy the User CA certificate from the desktop PC to the MX8WM System folder.
ActiveSync connection between the desktop PC and MX8WM can be disconnected if desired.
