INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. IPD (INTERPUPILLARY
DISTANCE)
Adjust the eyepieces to fit the distance
between your eyes by grasping the binocular
with both hands and bending it at the hinge
until you see a single circle of view.
2. EQUALIZING THE BINOCULAR FOR YOUR EYESIGHT
(ONLY NECESSARY ONCE)
i.
Close your right eye and look through the binocular’s left eyepiece at an object about
100 metres away—preferably a signboard with printed wording or something similar. Focus
using the central focus wheel (D3).
ii. Close your left eye and look through the right eyepiece (D1—the dioptre eyepiece) at the
same object sighted in the first step. Focus by adjusting the dioptre ring (D1) clockwise or
anticlockwise.
iii. Open both eyes and looking through both binocular eyepieces fine adjust the dioptre
eyepiece clockwise and anticlockwise until the image “feels” the same to both eyes.
To check your setting, set the binocular slightly out of focus by turning the focus wheel
clockwise and then anti-clockwise several times. If the left and right images come into
focus at the same instant in both directions, the binocular is set correctly for your eyesight.
If the focus seems to pass from one eye to the other as you transit in and out of focus, the
binocular is not set 100% correctly for your eyesight.
NOTE:
When wearing spectacles set the dioptre to the neutral position (between “+” and “–”).
3. TWIST DOWN EYECUPS
Lynx Series-46 binoculars feature twist-down eyecups to adapt them for spectacle wearers: Gently
press on the top of the eyecups whilst turning it in a clockwise direction to recess it until it comes to
a full stop. Leave the eyeguards extended when not wearing spectacles.
4. CARING FOR YOUR BINOCULAR
Being waterproof and filled with dry nitrogen Lynx Series-46 binoculars are impervious to dust and
moisture ingress. However it is recommended that you store your binocular in its case in a dry
place. Keep the lens surfaces clean by using the enclosed microfibre cloth. Avoid hard rubbing,
which might scratch the lens surface, and avoid a circular motion when cleaning. One or two drops
of isopropyl alcohol or a good lens cleaning solution may be used to remove smudges.
