You should see the text “This device is working properly” in the Device
Status box of the properties page. If so, then you’re fully installed and
ready for action! On the other hand, if you don’t see that text, you have a

tion of this manual.
DMAN 2044 Operation
Once the DMAN 2044 is physically installed in your computer, and the
software drivers and utilities are installed, you are ready to put the
DMAN 2044 to good use. This section will describe the general architec-
ture of the DMAN 2044 hardware and how the various software drivers,
utilities, and applications operate in conjunction with the DMAN 2044.
Multi-Port Device Operation
The Windows 98/95 Multimedia Extensions (MME) provide no standard
method for accessing multiple ports on a single audio card. As a result, a
“de facto” standard has been developed by various audio software and
hardware companies – this standard works around MME limitations by
making a multi-port audio card look like several WAV devices, instead of
just one. For example, a card with 8 outputs is made to look like 4 stereo
output devices, and a card with 16 inputs is made to look like 8 stereo
