If the pump cannot maintain a vacuum of at least 0.5 psi / 3.4 kP, the black

pump tubing or the pump should be replaced.

M4 Calibration pump test

The calibration pump can be tested in the same way as the sampling pump.

The pump will work properly as long as it can maintain a vacuum of at least 0.5

psi / 3.4 kP at its suction port.

The calibration pump can be tested as follows:

1. Disconnect all electrical power to the MAC155 Probe.

2. Open the cover and connect a hose from the intake port of the

calibration pump (the port on the right) to a vacuum gauge that can

display a vacuum of 0.5 psi / 3.4 kP.

3. Re-connect power to the instrument and place it in the calibration

check mode. Note the reading on the vacuum gauge. If it is at least

psi vacuum, the calibration pump is operating properly.

4. Disconnect electrical power, disconnect the vacuum gauge, and close

the cover.

5. The instrument may be returned to service.

Electrical Tests – Controller

When power is applied to the MAC155 controller the display on the front

panel should light up. The display will show “PROBE COMM ERROR” if the

probe is not connected to the controller. The display will show “WARM UP” if the

probe is properly connected to the controller.

If the display does not light up when power is applied to the controller, check

the AC Line fuses on the rear of the controller. These fuses are located in the

AC input connector. The fuses are accessed by unplugging the line cord from

the controller, snapping open the cover on the input connector withdrawing the

fuse block.
