Riving knife / splitter
Riving knife/splitter 15 (Fig. 3) prevents the saw kerf
from closing behind the saw blade when making rip
cuts. It must therefore be properly adjusted and
used for all sawing work. The correct clearance to
the saw blade is shown in (Fig. 4).
• To adjust the riving knife/splitter, release the two
socket head cap screws 16 (Fig. 3) with the Allen
key 5 (Fig. 1) and slide the riving knife/splitter as
may be necessary in its slot. Retighten the two
socket head cap screws.

Operation
4.1
Initial operation
Before using the machine for the first time, it is
imperative to observe the following notes:
Personnel entrusted to work with the machine
must have read the operating instructions. Main
importance has to be attached to the chapter
"Safety instructions".
Make sure that the safety equipment is attached
and functions. This applies in particular to the
riving knife and slight movability of the retracta-
ble saw guard.
Make sure that the saw blade is fixed correctly.
4.2
Inserting the battery
Slide the charged battery into the battery guide
below the handle until it noticeably locks into place.
4.3
Removing the battery
Unlock the battery by exerting bilateral pressure on
the rippled surfaces 19 (Fig. 2) and slide it off the
handle to the back.
4.4
Switching on and off
•
Switching on
: First, release the starting lock-off
by pressing it forwards (1) Fig. 1. Then, press
switch lever 2 while holding down the lock-off but-
ton 1. As the switch trigger does not have a lock-
ing feature, the machine only runs while this
switch is activated.
•
Switching off
: To switch off the machine, release
the switch trigger. The starting lock-off button is
automatically re-activated, preventing the cord-
less portable circular saw from being switched on
accidentally.
4.5
Adjusting cutting depth
For this purpose proceed as follows:
• First, release the locking lever 11 (Fig. 2).
• By means of plunge lever 6, the cutting depth can
now be adjusted.
• It can be read off scale 7 at the fixed protective
guard. The bevelled edge of the lever is serving
as indicator.
The cutting depth should always be approx. 2 to 5
(1/16 to 3/16 in.) mm larger than the material thick-
ness to be cut.
4.6
Adjusting for bevel cuts
• To adjust the saw assembly for bevel cuts, adjust
the machine to its basic setting and slacken off
wing screw 10 (Fig. 2).
• Adjust the assembly to the desired angle marked
on the scale on the segment for tilting.
• Then retighten wing screw 10.
Prior to replacing the riving knife /
splitter, it is imperative to remove the
battery from the machine (refer to sec-
tion 4.3).
Ensure a tight fit of the battery in the
machine prior to use.
Do not use force.
Before switching on, make sure that
the saw blade is freely movable and
the retractable saw guard is closed.
Hold the machine securely by the
two handles.
Do not switch on the machine if the
saw blade is touching the workpiece.
The cutting depth may be adjusted conti-
nuously from 0 to 55 mm (0 to 2 3/16 in.).
For making bevel cuts, the angle can be
set from 0 to 45°.
