Plunge cuts
• Firstly, release the locking lever 11 (Fig. 2).
• Move lever 6 to the position marked „-2“ on the
scale 7.
• Open the rectractable saw guard completely by
means of the integrated handle 14 (Fig. 3), so that
the machine can be placed on the workpiece. The
saw blade now rotates freely above the material
and can be aligned with the marking.
• Press down plunge lever 6 (Fig. 2) to lower the
saw blade into the workpiece vertically. Read off
the cutting depth on scale 7. The riving knife /
splitter swings up and away when the blade
enters the workpiece. As soon as the riving knife
is free behind the saw blade during the forward
motion of the machine, the riving knife reverts to
its normal position.
4.8
Sawing to markings
The base plate has tracing edges 17 (Fig. 3) both for
straight cuts and for 30° and 45° bevel cuts. These
tracing edges correspond to the inside of the saw
blade. For bevel cuts the marking can be seen
through the opening on the left side of the upper saw
guard (arrow, Fig. 2).
• For sawing, hold the machine by the handles and
place the front part of the base plate on the work-
piece.
• Switch on cordless portable circular saw (see
chapter 4.4) and push the machine steadily for-
wards in the direction of the cut.
• After completion of the cut, switch off the saw
immediately by releasing the switch trigger 2
(Fig. 1).
4.9
Sawing with parallel guide fence
Parallel guide fence 4 (Fig. 1) is used when sawing
parallel to an existing edge. The guide fence can be
attached to the left or right of the machine. The cutting
width range is about 155 mm (6 1/8 in.) on the right
side and about 280 mm (11 1/32 in.) on the left side.
• To adjust the cutting width, release wing screws 9
(Fig. 3) and move the fence accordingly. Retigh-
ten wing screws.
The parallel guide fence can also be used as an
extended support, providing improved guidance of
the portable saw. To do so, simply turn it over (guide
surface for the workpiece edge faces up).
• Now the machine can be guided along on either a
cross bar fastened onto the workpiece or on a
guide rail available as a special accessory.

Service and maintenance
5.1
Machine
The machine must be cleaned of dust deposits at
regular intervals. When doing so, clean all joins and
guides as well as the air vents on the motor using a
vacuum cleaner. Spray the joints and guide pieces
with machine oil from time to time in order to main-
tain their smooth movement.
In addition it must be checked whether the retracta-
ble saw guard moves smoothly. If it does not close
automatically after having opened it, the machine
must be taken to a MAFELL customer service shop.
This should be done after a prolonged period of
operation even if there are no failures.
Risk of kick-back with plunge cuts!
Before inserting, the machine must
be aliged with the rear edge of the
base plate to a stop securely
attached to the workpiece.
During insertion, hold the machine
tight on the handle and push for-
wards slightly!
It is very important to observe the
instructions with regard to sawing
contained in the chapter „Safety
instructions“!

Prior to any tool replacement, it is
imperative to remove the battery from
the machine (refer to section 4.3).
MAFELL machines are designed to be
low in maintenance. The ball bearings
used are greased for life. After a pro-
longed period of operation, users are
recommended to have the machine
checked by an authorized MAFELL cus-
tomer service shop.
