Using the Vessels
Vessels can be used like a Magenta box or other re-
usable vessel with semi-solid or with liquid
medium.
Always autoclave with the lids on and seal the
edges with 3M Micropore tape or similar sealing
film.
Using the Root Stands
Step 1 & 2
Take two pieces of the Root Stand and stack them
so they create a grid pattern. It is easiest to place
the first root stand into the vessel, then place the
second on top (rather than putting both in at
once).
Step 3
Place the root stand into the vessel.
Step 4
Add of liquid media to the vessel (100-200ml).
Step 5
Autoclave, then let cool.
Step 6
Place shoots into the gaps in the grid. You may
need to remove the lowest leaves.
Removing Plants
Using forceps, lift the pair of root stands out using
the bottom root stand. You can then slide the
pieces apart.
Difficulty with small plants
If you are having trouble supporting very small
explants (the plants fall through or will not stand
up straight) please use the following method.
Cut a strip of tinfoil to the same size as the root
stand. Place the first root stand inside the vessel
and place the tinfoil on top. Then place the second
root stand on top of the tinfoil.
