6525 Omni 2 Enhanced Scanner User Guide Rev A 2020_11_05

magicmobility.com.au

Overview

The Omni 2 Enhanced Scanner enables the chair to drive in six directions, with the addition of diagonal left
and right turns, from just one switch.  This document should be read in conjunction with the Omni 2 User
Guide.

Safety Considerations

The Omni Scanner allows a wheelchair to be driven by holding pressure on a single button switch. It is
important that the user can stop driving when it is not safe to continue.  A stuck switch or the inability to
release the switch could result in a dangerous out of control situation.

Not only is the reliability of the switch itself important, but its operation is also dependant on being securely
mounted with the cable routed in such a way as to minimise the risk of damage.  This includes routing it in a
path tha

t is protected from potential impacts and ‘snagging’ as much as possible.  Care must be taken not to

overtighten cable ties: if the wires of the switch cable short together, then it could result in the above
mentioned dangerous out of control situation.

Using the Enhanced Scanner and a Single Switch

When the Omni 2 is switched on, a screen like the one shown below will appear.

The OMNI 2 will scan through the following icons:

Continuously depressing the user switch whilst one of the ‘arrow’ icons is show

n will cause the powerchair to

drive in that direction until the switch is released. If the User Switch is pressed when the ‘M’ icon is shown, the

OMNI2 will enter the user menu.
