6-2. Installation Precaution
• If the surface of the unit side where this product will be installed or the surface of the scale shaft side is
coated with paint or some other substance, remove the coating in order to ensure conductivity between
this product and the machine.
• Before installing this product, be sure to check that the dimensions and tolerance of the installation
surface and the machine shaft are within the standards. (See Section 6-1. “Installation Dimensions and
Tolerance.”) If the installation dimensions and tolerance are not within the standards, the required
accuracy will not be obtained and this product can be damaged.
• In an environment where this product may be directly exposed to coolant or chips, attach a cover to the
product or take other measures to ensure that the product is not directly exposed.
• Th
e mounting nuts, wrenches and other installation tools are not supplied with this product. Th
ese
items should be prepared by the customer.
• Install the unit correctly by referring to the installation dimensions fi gure and the installation
procedure. If the unit fails to work properly even aft er it has been installed correctly, contact our service
department.
Reference
• Th
e reference point of this product (the position where the absolute value is zero) is where the reference
point marks on the scale shaft and scale unit are aligned within ±2 degrees.
