Mechanical properties
The MarSurf PS 10 is a compact roughness
meas uring instrument for mobile use under shop
floor conditions. The maximum measuring range
is 350 µm
(0.014 in)
(-200 µm to +150 µm)
(0.008 in to +0.006 in)
.
Thanks to the integrated, easily detachable
drive unit, measurements can be performed in
any measuring position without the need for
setup times. The maximum traversing length is
17.5 mm
(0.69 in)
. The instrument is easy to use
and complies with DIN EN ISO 3274.
The MarSurf PS 10 and all Mahr probes are
calibrated at the factory. Various calibration func-
tions are available for high-precision meas ure-
ments using the stylus method and sub se quent
checks. Thanks to the integrated, easily de tach-
able standard, the probe can be calibrated via
Rz
.
PHT probes have an open skid

that virtually
elimi nates deposits of dirt and oil.
The height adjustment feature means that
meas urements can be performed at different
height levels.
The sturdy housing makes the MarSurf PS 10
ideal for operation under harsh conditions. The
instru ment has an ergonomic design, clearly laid
out operating elements and a customized, easy-
to-read touchscreen.
Its compact form and low weight (approx.
500 g /
1.10 lbs
) make it ideal for mobile use.
With its carry case and shoulder strap, it is easy
to carry around.

The built-in rechargeable battery offers enough
capacity for several days’ battery-powered
meas uring

.
Stationary operation is possible with the AC
adapter plugged in. The instrument’s AC adapt er
comes with four interchangeable mains adapt-
ers, allowing it to be connected directly to the
mains all over the world.
Possible instrument settings
All the functions supported by the instrument
are set out in a logical menu structure which can
be opened via the touchscreen.
Instrument settings can be blocked and also
pro tected against unauthorized modification by
means of a code number.
The traversing length can be selected or entered
manually. The number of sampling lengths can
be adjusted. The traversing length can also in-
clude a pre-travel and post-travel measuring half
the length of the cutoff.
The profile recorded can be filtered using
an Ls filter as per DIN EN ISO 3274 (can be
switched off).
When performing measurements to ISO (DIN),
JIS and ANSI/ASME, a phase-correct profile filter
(Gaussian filter) is used for filtering in accordance
with DIN EN ISO 16610-21. A shorter cutoff can
be selected for this, or you can enter a cutoff
manually.
Even inexperienced users can perform correct,
reproducible roughness measurements: If the
automatic mode is active, the instrument detects
periodic and aperiodic profiles and automatically
sets the standard cutoff and associated traversing
length in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4288.

The capacity is sufficient for approx. 1,200 measurements
(depending on the traversing length).
