SET UP YOUR ROUTER
Set up your router by installing a 5/8” outside
diameter template guide and a 1/2” diameter router bit.
Start by extending the router bit 1-1/16” past the base
plate and test. This will be very close to the proper
depth. It is best to test on a scrap wood block prior to
installation. By measuring the distance from the router
base to the end of the router bit, this set up can now be
duplicated at any time.
To center the template we must find the center of
the lock mortise. Using a combination square,
make a pencil line at the top and bottom of the
mortise as shown.
Pencil mark at top of lock mortise, mark the bottom
the same way.
