Thread the drill guide 
in until it makes  
contact with the inside 
of the mortise pocket. 
 
 
Shown at right is a drill 
with a 1/4” drill bit. The 
center of the HIT-21 
has a hardened steel 
sleeve. 

Drill from the outside 
thru the mortise 
pocket. Drill slow, you 
don't want to blow out 
the other side. 
 
The 1/4” diameter hole 
is now in the center of 
where the cylinder will 
be located. 

Replace the pilot bit of 
your hole saw with the 
supplied drill blank. 
 
 
Drill the cylinder hole.  
Use a low RPM and 
back the hole saw out 
several times when 
drilling to remove 
chips.
