Tower Accessories
Following are descriptions of a variety of optional accessories
that can be added to the tower, depending on packages and avail-
ability. It is important to note that the towers were designed to ac-
commodate only the specified options. Other aftermarket options
may not work properly due to the electrical harness requirements.
The towers can also hold only a limited amount of weight. Exceeding
that limit can cause failure of the tower, which could lead to injury
to people on board or people using the tower for water activities. No
additional weight should ever be added to the tower.
Models: Optional on all Wakesetter models.
No components should be added to the
Malibu tower beyond what is specified
by the company. Other aftermarket items
may not be acceptable due to wiring or other power-related issues. The
tower weight limit may be exceeded by adding aftermarket items. Such
weight limits can also cause the tower to fail, which could result in
damage that is not covered under warranty.
Bimini Top
One of the most popular options is the Bimini top, which provides
protection from the sun for the driver, observer and may also offer
shade to others onboard, depending on the angle of the sun. It also
provides storage for ropes. The deluxe version also offers surfboard
storage.
The canvas cover requires thorough drying prior to the boat being
stored. See the
Care and Maintenance section of this manual for ad-
ditional information.
To Open the Bimini Top for Use:
• Unclip the strap wrapped around the tower and unwrap from
around the tower.
• Pull the Bimini forward and free of the tower until it will not slide
any farther.
• Reposition the tower mirror (where equipped) into place for use.
• Unzip the Bimini boot and place the boot in a secure location,
preferably one of the storage compartments.
• Unroll the canvas from around the Bimini support bar.
• Pull the canvas over the tower, ensuring the opening fits over the
navigation light.
• Unfold the back half of the Bimini toward aft.
• Secure the two support rods. (Gently pull down on the Bimini
canvas to release tension and make it easier to hook the rods.)
• Wrap the four connection straps around the bars and secure with
the Velcro flaps.
To Close the Bimini Top:
• Open the Velcro flaps on the four connection areas of the Bimini.
• Release the two support rods. (Gently pull down on the Bimini
canvas to release tension and make it easier to unhook the rods.)
104—How It Works
Prior to lowering or raising the tower ensure
nobody is beneath it, and that no body parts
are in the area where such could be injured
by the moving components of the tower.
• Prior to lowering the tower, stow the Bimini and fold the board
racks inward.
• See Bimini stowing instructions above.
• Unscrew the two knobs on each side of the tower hoop.
• Fold the side plates attached to the base’s inboard.
• Lower the tower until it stops.
Towing the boat on a trailer in the DOWN
position requires the purchase of the Tower
Support Pole (Part Number 6170097), avail
-
able only through an authorized Malibu dealer.
Raising the Ski Tower
• Raise the tower until it physically stops.
• Fold the side plates upward to meet the hoop assembly.
• Screw in securely the two knobs on each side of the tower hoop.
• The board racks and Bimini can now be deployed.
• Fold the back half on the Bimini forward.
• Pull the canvas over the tower, taking care while moving it over
the navigation light.
• Roll the canvas around the Bimini support bar.
• If the boat will be in motion, place the Bimini boot over the canvas
and zip it closed. (This will keep the canvas from flapping during
operation and potentially tearing it, which is not covered under
warranty).
For Towing:
• After closing the Bimini top as explained immediately above,
move the tower mirror (where equipped) into its stowed position,
out of the way of the movement of the Bimini support.
• Slide the Bimini aft until it will not slide any further. It should be
behind the tower.
• Slip the canvas strap around the tower/Bimini and clip closed to
hold the Bimini to the tower.
Extended Awning Deployment:
• To deploy extended awning when equipped, place the black 48”
poles in the necessary locations located on the deck if you want
front cover, rear coverage, or coverage for both.
• Unroll the awning material and attach to the tower with the main
bimini already deployed.
• The rear canvas will wrap around the support poles on the side of
the bimini and come back to buckle.
• There should be enough strap length to adjust how tight the can-
vas is after the awning is fully deployed.
• Pull the D-rings at each corner towards the poles located at the
rear and hook them around the top. The poles will flex towards
the tower but are stiff enough to keep the canvas tight.
• On the front, attach the canvas around the aft hoop(s) in the cor-
ners on the G5 or GX.
• Proceed by pulling the canvas out and mounting each D-ring with
its nearest pole.
• To remove the extended awning, do these steps in reverse.
*Note: The Extended Awning is not to be used over idle speed.
Models: Available only on 24 MXZ, 25 LSV, and M240.
Tower Speakers
Malibu offers three tower speakers: The Icon8 from Wet Sounds
is an 8-inch coaxial speaker with a 1” tweeter; the Rev8 from Wet
Sounds is an 8-inch horn loaded compression driver speaker; and
the Rev10 from Wet Sounds is a 10-inch horn loaded compression
driver speaker.
All three speakers offer a full mid-bass sound with clean detailed
highs. The Malibu-designed enclosure features waterproof connec-
tors. The speakers are powered by a dedicated amplifier. Read the
Dashes and Video Screens section of this manual for additional in-
formation about the speaker operation.
