The support of the individual conical mounting can
be made in one of the following three ways:
1)
The support between the bottom flange and
the foundation of the conical mounting is made
with a loose steel shim. This steel shim is
adjusted to an exact measurement (min. 40
mm) for each conical mounting.
Resilient Mounting of Generating Sets
On resilient mounted generating sets, the diesel
engine and the generator are placed on a common
rigid base frame mounted on the ship's/erection
hall's foundation by means of resilient supports, type
Conical.
All connections from the generating set to the exter-
nal systems should be equipped with flexible con-
nections, and pipes, gangway etc. must not be
welded to the external part of the installation.
Resilient Support
A resilient mounting of the generating set is made
with a number of conical mountings. The number
and the distance between them depend on the size
of the plant. These conical mountings are bolted to
brackets on the base frame (see fig 1).
The standard height of the conical mountings is 177
mm in unloaded condition - when loaded the setting
is normally 5-7 mm.
The exact setting can be found in the calculation of
the conical mountings for the plant in question.

The support can also be made by means of two
steel shims, at the top a loose shim of at least
40 mm and below a shim of approx. 10 mm
which are adjusted for each conical mounting
and then welded to the foundation.
