Installing pistons with conrods
Note:
If the pistons have to be replaced, it must
be determined whether oversize pistons
were fitted by measuring the pistons or re-
ading off the dimension on the piston
crown.
If this is the case, oversize pistons are to
be used.

Check bearing bushes for wear and damage.
Measure spread as in the case of main bearing
bushes.
If required, fit new bearing bushes.
In the case of repairs to the conrod journals, use
bearing bush of the corresponding repair level.

Insert the bearing bushes in the conrod or conrod
bearing cover so that they are
flush
.
Caution:
The rod shell has a red mark on the side
and a brown reverse side.
The running surface must not be damaged!
Apply a thin coat of oil to the conrod bushes.

Apply a thin coat of oil to the cylinder walls and
pistons.
Adjust the piston ring joints by approx. 120
°
each.
Slide on the piston ring scuff band and tension the
piston rings.

Guide the conrod and push the piston on until it
contacts the conrod foot on the conrod journal.
Caution:
Do not damage the oil injection nozzles!
