Step 6a
Installing the CM11 interface using a USB connection to your PC
Warning: Install the CM-USB software included (the small CD) before connecting the CM-USB to your PC!
1. Install the CM-USB software. Use the file “Setup.exe”. You can download the most recent version of the software from:
www.marmitek.com > customer service.
2. Follow the instructions on your screen.
3. After installing the software, connect the CM-USB cable to the PC. Your PC will automatically recognise the CM-USB cable
(“Prolific USB-to-Serial COMM port”).
4. You should now check which settings were selected for the CM-USB cable:
a.
Right click “My Computer” on your desktop and select Properties.
b.
Select the Hardware tab.
c.
Select Device Manager.
d.
Open the folder “Ports COM & LPT”.
e. “Prolific USB-to-Serial COMM port” will be shown in the list of devices. In this window you can see (between brackets) what
COMM port the CM-USB is installed at. (COM1, COM2, COM3 or COM4). See “Changing the COM port setting” if there a
different port is indicated, other than COM1, COM2, COM3 or COM4.

Write down the setting. You need this information to install ActiveHome.
Changing the COM port setting
If the CM-USB has been installed on a different COM port than COM1, 2, 3 of 4, you need to change the setting:
a.
Right click “My Computer” on your desktop and select Properties.
b.
Select the Hardware tab.
c.
Select Device Manager.
d.
Open the folder “Ports COM & LPT”. “Prolific USB-to-Serial COMM port” will be shown in the list of devices.

Select Profilic USB-to-Serial COMM port en then Properties.
f.
Select the Port Settings tab.
g.
Click Advanced.
h. In the windows Advanced, use the option box COM port number to choose a different COMport. Select a COM port that is not
used in the list “Ports COM & LPT”.
In some versions of Windows (98, ME) it is not possible to change the COM port number in the Advanced window. If this is the case,
remove the other applications that use the COM3 or COM4 port from your system and then install CM-USB. CM-USB will
automatically choose COM3 or COM4. You can reinstall your own applications after installing CM-USB.
Step 6b
Installing the CM11 interface using the serial port on your PC
1. Make sure your computer is turned off.
2. Plug in the 9-pin plug of the connecting cable into a free COM port on your computer.
3. Unwrap the Interface supplied (Marmitek X-10 Model CM11)
4. Connect the small RJ11 plug to the Interface by inserting the plug into the chassis part on top of
the Module.
5. Plug the Interface into a wall socket that can NOT be switched off and that is not equipped with an
interference filter.
6. You can connect the PC power cable to the Interface. The power will then be fed through the plug
of the Interface.
Step 7
Installing ActiveHome**
1. Install ActiveHome version 1.42 on the ActiveHome CD included. You can also download ActiveHome 1.42
from: www.marmitek.com > customer service.
2. When the window “CAUTION COMMUNICATION PORT” opens, select YES.
3. Click Next.
4. Select the COM port the CM-USB is installed on (COM1, 2, 3 or 4).
5. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
Step 8
Switching modules with ActiveHome
1. When you start the Marmitek ActiveHome program for the first time, the program MYHOUSE.x10 will start. MYHOUSE gives you a
graphical presentation of the lamp and appliance modules.
2. You can set the switch for the TM13 (Address A1) with the mouse. The appliance connected to the TM13 will now be switched on.
3. Use the mouse to switch on the second module (Address A2). The lamp connected to the LM12 will be switched on.
4. Slide the dimmer control of the module to 50%. You will see that the lamp connected to the LM12 Module will dim.
5. Change an address by clicking on the text A2 with the mouse. When the text turns blue, you can type A3 on your keyboard.
6. Press Enter.
