LEAK TESTING

Before you use the heater for the first time and also regularly, you must check the whole system for leaks following
the steps listed below. If the smell of gas is detected at anytime, turn off gas supply and immediately check the
entire system for leaks.
Prepare a soapy solution in a 30/70% proportion of dish liquid detergent and water. A spray bottle will work nicely or
an applicator brush. Apply the solution to the fittings, all connections and gas hose. For the initial leak test, make
sure the L.P. cylinder is full.
LEAK TESTING STEPS
1. Make sure heater control knob is at the OFF position.
2. Open cylinder gas valve fully.
3. Spray all fittings, connections and gas hose.
4. Formation of bubbles indicate a leak. If a leak is identified, turn OFF gas at cylinder, retighten loose fittings and
test again. If leak persists or requires replacement of a part, contact your reseller or a qualified gas technician.
5. Only those parts recommended by the manufacturer should be used on this appliance. Substitution will void the
warranty. Do not use this appliance until all connections have been checked and do not leak.
PROCEED TO A GAS LEAK TEST EACH TIME GAS CYLINDER IS RECHARGED OR REPLACED.
BEFORE USING THE OUTDOOR HEATER
Move and install the heater in an open area. Make sure the gas cylinder valve is in OFF position (clockwise). Make
sure gas control knob on heater is in OFF position. Inspect the visible part of hose and regulator. Remove all debris,
dirt. Before each use inspect hose for damage or wear. If you detect any wear, abrasion or damage to hose, have it
replaced by your local gas dealer. Do not attempt to use the heater if there is any damage to it.
Portions of gas hose located inside the post should be fully inspected annually.
INSTALLATION AND REPAIR
Installation should conform with local municipal codes or, in absence of local codes, with either the National Fuel
Gas Code ANSI Z223.1 Propane Installation Code or CSA B149.1. Installation and repair should be done by a
qualified service person. The heater should be inspected BEFORE use and at least ANNUALLY by a qualified
service person.
More frequent cleaning may be required as necessary. It is imperative that control compartment, burner and
circulating air passageways of the heater be kept clean.
LP-GAS CYLINDER

This heater is equipped with a hose assembly for hook-up to a standard 20 lb propane gas cylinder
•
The LP-gas supply cylinder must be constructed and marked in accordance with the Specifications for LP-gas
Cylinders of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) or the National Standard of Canada, CAN/CSA-B339.
•
The cylinder used must be equipped with a shutoff valve with an outlet of type QCC1 (no.510) of standards
ANSI/CGA-V-1.
•
Cylinder system must be arranged for vapour withdrawal.
•
Cylinder must include a collar to protect the cylinder valve.
•
Do not fill gas cylinder over 80% of its capacity.
•
Store gas cylinders outdoors in a well ventilated area. Not in a building, garage or enclosed space.
