Handles
The handles used for argon-supported
cutting and/or coagulating have separate
connectors for HF current and gas sup-
ply. The HF current supply cable with its
flat connector (US 3-pin plug) must be
inserted into one of the monopolar out-
puts (M1 or M2) of the maxium HF surgi-
cal unit. Activation is possible either by
hand switch or footswitch. If an argon-supported current has already been selected (e.g. by calling
up an appropriate program) and indicated on the display, the plug must of course be inserted into
the socket of the channel used for the argon-supported current.
The handle’s gas connector is the female component of a Luer-lock connection and must be con-
nected to socket (1) on the front panel of the maxium Beamer. To drain the air from the applicator,
an argon gas flow can be activated with the PURGE button (2). This does not activate the HF unit.
All parts of the gas supply and gas control systems inside the unit, including the applicator connec-
tor, are non-sterile. To enhance protection against contamination, you can install a sterile micro-
filter (item no. 80-181-90-04) with a pore size of 0.2
µ
m (disposable item) between the gas outlet
and the sterile (sterilized) applicator. This filter retains all germs except viruses.
