Chapter 1 - Overview

Separate Power Supplies
The GTXI uses two 250W power supplies, which can be configured
to use a line voltage of 110/120 VAC or 220/240 VAC at 50 or 60
Hz, and are adjustable by a line voltage switch on the rear of the
platform. There are two power supply switches on the front of the
GTXI platform. The green Main power switch and blue Auxiliary
power switch control the two power supplies.
Power Supplies for the GT7700 and GT7710
On the GT7700 and GT7710, one power supply provides power to
the controller and PCI bus, while the other provides power to the
ISA instrumentation. Each section has its own switch, allowing the
ISA instrumentation to be powered-down while the computer is
running. ISA instruments can then be removed from the chassis
without removing any additional mechanical parts or rebooting to
reload software.
Power Supplies for the GTXI-700 (standalone Mode)
When the GTXI-700 operates as a stand-alone PC with a GTPC-
7586 controller, one power supply is used by the plug-in controller
module, while the second power supply drives the instrument board
section of the platform. The main power switch turns on the
computer-related circuitry only. The auxiliary power switch turns
on the instrument board section of the platform. With only the main
power turned on, programming, debugging, and printing can be
performed while the instrument board section is disabled. Boards
can be replaced or reconfigured without turning the computer off.
The standard power supply configuration for the GTXI-700M as a
stand-alone PC is to have the main power supply connected to the
far right slot 13 and the Aux. power supply connected to slots 0-12.
