Worn knives
- The diameter of
fi
xing hole «F» must not be ovalized more
than 2 mm in relation to the original diameter (
fi
g.19).
- Length «L» of the knives must not be allowed to become
more than 15 mm shorter than the original length (
fi
g.19).
The pins must be replaced if:
- The thread of
fi
xing screw «S» is damaged.
- Wear «T» on pin exceeds 2 mm (
fi
g.19).
4.8 REPLACING BLADES
Periodically check the knives and their
fi
xing components
for wear.
Immediately replace all worn and/or damaged parts with the
Manufacturer’s genuine spares.
Proceed in the following way to replace worn or broken
knives:
- Park the machine and tractor on
fl
at ground.
- Make sure that all turning components have come to a
stop.
- Detach the driveline from the machine and tractor.
- Using the tractor’s power lift, raise the machine as high
as it will go.
- Position bearing stands under the machine, on both sides.
- Carefully lower the machine on to the supports.
- Make sure that the machine is completely stable.
- Stop the tractor, remove the ignition key and apply the
parking brake.
- Using appropriate wrenches, proceed in replacing the
blades, as following Instructions:
- Disassemble all worn or damaged knives.
- Couple new knives of the same weight together.
- Fix the pairs of knives of the same weight diametrically
opposite to each other on the support.
- Install the heaviest pairs at the two ends of the rotor and
the lighter pairs in the middle (
fi
g.17).
- Once the knives have been replaced, tighten the M 20
screws to a 150 Nm torque value. There must be a 1 to 2
mm
fl
oat after
fi
xing.
Having terminated the operation, start the tractor, remove
the machine from the stands, lower it to the ground and
turn off the tractor engine.
Fit the driveline back in position, turn on the tractor engine
again, raise the machine suf
fi
ciently to prevent the spinning
knives from touching the ground and progressively increase
the PTO rate until reaching a nominal 540 rpm.
If the knives have been mounted correctly, the rotor should
turn without vibrations.
