Passive and Active Safety
System
Passive Safety
The passive safety system is intended
to reduce the risk of suffering serious
injuries in the event of an accident.
Safety belts with pretensioner and
load limiter, airbags and other
auxiliary components of the occupant
restraint systems described in the
specific chapters of this section are
essential components of this system.
In addition to these components, the
body with controlled deformation
is of fundamental importance for
passive safety. It is able to absorb
the energy that develops during an
impact and distribute it over the entire
structure with consequent progressive
deceleration of the vehicle.
To protect the occupants in these
situations, the passenger compartment
is a survival cell capable of maintaining
maximum resistance without
deforming.
Active Safety
The active safety system aims to
prevent accidents or reduce their
severity. To achieve this, it uses the
following systems/components.
