• Drive carefully. Foresee the actions of the other drivers.
• When towing a load, start braking in advance and gradually slow down.
• Pay attention to any possible obstacles above the vehicle.
• Make sure the load does not hide any warning lights or other lights.
• Couple brake pedals together.
2.1.4.13 Road transport
Before driving the tractor on a public road, take several preventive measures.
• Become familiar with all applicable laws and abide by them.
• Couple brake pedals together.
• Raise all attachments in transport position and lock them in place.
• Reduce all attachments to the most compact transport configuration.
• Disengage the PTO and differential blocking.
• Ensure that any flag indicating clearance or hazard lights are in place and operating.
• Ensure you use a suitable fixing pin featuring a clip retainer.
• Clean the cat's eyes and front and rear road lights, then make sure they work.
Ensure the tractor and equipment are equipped with slow motion vehicle signals (SMV) and any other
marking recommended to improve your visibility, or a beacon - if the law so requires.
2.1.4.14 Safe towing
Stopping distance increases with speed, trailer or equipment weight and downhill slope. Towed load, with
or without brakes, if too heavy for the type of tractor or towed at too high a speed could make you lose
control of the tractor. Consider overall vehicle and load weight. When towing loads on rough surfaces, in a
bend or on slopes, proceed with further care.
2.1.4.15 Tractor track
To minimise any risk of tipping over, always use the maximum allowed track for the operation to perform.
2.1.4.16 Fuel
Handle Diesel fuel with care since it is highly
flammable. DO NOT smoke while refuelling. Keep
away from any free flames. Stop the engine and
allow for it to cool down before refuelling. Fill
Diesel fuel cans in the open air. Before filling the
fuel tank, ensure that no mobile phone is nearby.
Prevent fire by keeping the machine clean, free of
dirt, grease and residues. Always clean any fuel
spillage.
IMPORTANT:
Use suitable vessels to handle fuel. These vessels
shall be used only for this operation.
