• Cutting tool is positioned below
workpiece centre line.
• Cutting too aggressively.
• Raise cutting tool to centre line of
workpiece.
• Use a lighter touch.
Excessive vibration when
turning larger workpieces
or bowls.
• Headstock and/or tailstock
improperly located at ends of
workpiece.
• Workpiece is unbalanced.
• Check for proper workpiece centres.
• Cut off stock until workpiece is
balanced.
Lathe will not turn on.
• Speed control lever not in its
lowest speed setting.
• Electrical outlet not working or is
of wrong voltage.
• Blown fuse or tripped circuit
breaker.
• Make sure speed control lever is
turned to its lowest speed setting.
• Make sure lathe is plugged into a
working, 120 V, grounded,
electrical outlet.
• Replace fuse or reset circuit
breaker.
Lathe will not turn off.
• Damaged or faulty power switch
and/or internal wiring.
• Unplug the lathe from its electrical
outlet immediately. Do not operate
lathe until it is repaired by a
qualified service technician.
