VACUUM CONVERSION KIT

INSTRUCTIONS FOR 5 IN. AND 6 IN.

RANDOM ORBITAL SANDERS

The MT1456CVK and MT1456SGVK Matco Vacuum Conversion
Kits allow the NV (non-vacuum) machines to be converted to CV
(central vacuum) or SGV (self-generated vacuum) machines.

General Disassembly Instructions for converting
“NV” Machines to “CV” (Central Vacuum) or
“SGV” (Self Generating Vacuum) Machines

1. For safe conversion, shut off the air supply and disconnect it

from the tool.

2. Remove the (36) NV Pad with a (35) 24 mm Pad Wrench, then

remove the (34) Non-Vac Shroud from the Sander Housing.

General Assembly Instructions for
“CV” Shroud Conversion

1. Install the (5) SuperVac™ Shroud onto the Sander Housing.

Make sure the line up slots and tabs are engaged.

2. Slide the inlet end of the (1) SuperVac™ CV Swivel Exhaust

Assembly into the exhaust port of the (5) SuperVac™ Shroud
until it hits the stop on the SuperVac™ CV Swivel Exhaust
Assembly. Make sure the key on the SuperVac™ CV Swivel
Exhaust Assembly bracket is aligned and engaged with the
keyway on the Sander Housing.

3. Secure the (1) SuperVac CV Swivel Exhaust Assembly to the

Sander Housing using (2) M5 Flanged Nut, (3) M5 Flat Washer
and the (4) M5 x 12 Screw (CAUTION: Do not over torque
the screw).

4. Screw on the (6) new vacuum style Pad (not included, see

available pads on page 8) on (33) Spindle.

5. Grasp the Female Swivel Fitting on the (1) CV Swivel Exhaust

Assembly and turn the fitting to thread the male end of a
standard 1 in. flexible Vacuum Hose into the Swivel until the
Hose is tight.

Additional Disassembly Instructions for Converting
“NV” Machines to “SGV” Machines

1. Unscrew the Muffler Housing with a 21mm hex allen wrench.

Take off the Bronze Muffler that is pressed into the Muffler
Housing and set it aside for reuse later. The Muffler Housing
and soft “foam-like” Muffler that are located in its cavity are
not used for SGV Machines, but keep them in a safe place if
the machine might be switched back to a Non-Vacuum
Machine later.

WARNING:

5 in. pads must only be
used on 5 in. machines and
6 in. pads must only be
used on 6 in. machines.
