ATA uses
Answer Supervision
signaling to indicate to the FXS port that the call made through the FXO
port has been answered by the remote party.
Answer Supervision is used in the application where a PCO machine is connected to the FXS port of
ATA211. This signalling is used to indicate the event of call maturity (when the called party has gone Off-
hook) so that the PCO machine can start billing.
In absence of this signal, the call will not be considered as matured by the ATA, even when the called party
goes Off-hook. This will result in no billing.
Select the appropriate
Answer Supervision
Type from the options according to the type supported by
your CO network:
•
None:
This option is to be selected when no signaling is available from the CO. If this option is
selected, the call will be considered as matured on the expiry of the 'Forced Maturity Timer'
(programmable; default: 15 seconds), irrespective of whether the call gets matured or not. After this
timer, the system will start detection of Disconnect signal or Tone programmed on the FXO port.
When the Answer Supervision type is selected as
None
, configure the
Forced Maturity Timer
. The
range of this timer is from 00 to 99 seconds. Default: 15 seconds.
•
Polarity Reversal:
If this option is selected, ATA will consider the call as matured only if reversal of
polarity is detected on the FXO port. Forced Maturity Timer will not be applicable in this case.
Default: None.
2.
Disconnect Signaling
is used in the application where a PCO machine is connected to the FXS port of
ATA211. This signalling is used to indicate the event of call disconnection (when the called party has gone
On-hook) so that the PCO machine can stop billing.
