system.

E. Servicing and Lubrication

Refer to the Special Inspection schedules (ref.
Subject 05-20-10), the Airframe Periodic
Inspection Program (ref. Subject 05-20-20) or
the Airframe Segmented Inspection Program
(ref. 05-20-50) for hourly and calendar
servicing and lubrication requirements. Also
refer to the applicable manuals and service
directives from the manufacturers (ref. Section
01-00-00, Table 201, Vendor Publications).

Instructions and information for servicing and
lubrication of the helicopter is in Section
12-00-00.

F. Vendor/Supplier Information

Do the specified component life-limit retire
ment, inspections, lubrication, and servicing
for the engine, appliances, and products with
the applicable manufacturer's publications.
Refer to directives and related manufacturers
publications (ref. Section 01-00-00).

Do the specified inspections in the applicable
publication for optional equipment approved
under Supplemental Type Approval/Certificate
(STA/STC).

For MDHI-approved optional equipment
included in this maintenance manual, do the
specified inspections in this chapter.

For other MDHI-approved optional equipment
not included in this maintenance manual, do
the specified inspections in the applicable
publication.

3. Documentation

A. Records of Aircraft Inspections

Aviation regulatory agencies require pilots,
mechanics, owners and operators to know and
to keep records of aircraft inspections and
repairs. This includes, but is not limited to:

Airworthiness directives,

Service notices,

Scheduled inspection records, and

Life-limited components.

B. Additional Documentation

Additional documentation is necessary to be
available, or inside the aircraft, during
operation. This documentation includes, but is
not limited to:

Airworthiness and registration certificates,

Rotorcraft Flight Manual,

Weight and balance information, and

Radio permits.

It is important that all necessary documenta
tion be examined and revised as necessary
during regular inspections, maintenance, and
operation of the helicopter.

4. Visual Inspection Criteria

When an area of the helicopter is visible
during an inspection or maintenance action, do
the “General Visual Inspection” (ref. Part A.)
and the “Corrosion Control” (ref. Part B.)
without disassembly or removal of adjacent
equipment (unless otherwise specified). It will
normally apply to those areas, surfaces, or
items which become visible by the removal or
opening of access doors, panels, fairings, or
cowlings. It must include a visual examination
with the necessary inspection aids of the area,
component, detail, assembly, or installation
and its adjacent environment, in addition to
related equipment in the adjacent area.

NOTE:

detailed nondestructive inspection methods.

A. General Visual Inspection

A visual inspection to find obvious unsatisfac
tory conditions/discrepancies. This inspection
can require cleaning, removal of fillets,
fairings, access panels/doors, etc.
